Fairies, and Bugs and Cupcakes - oh my!

This year we were lucky to be able to have Mieka's birthday party over at the Thanksgiving Point Children's Garden. They hosted a Fairy and Bug party for her that included a fun bug hunt. :)

I ordered cute little pink tutus and fairy wings for the girls and brown bug wings for the boys from a girl in my ward. You can't have a fairy and bug party with out wings.

The princess fairy ready for her party. :)

Emma and Annika ready for the bug hunt - equipped with their bug hunt hats of course.

After most of the kids arrived we had a fun bug hunt in the gardens. Each of the kids were given a cute little bug catching kit and were led to a private garden where a bunch of plastic bugs had been hidden. Ironically enough there were TONS of live grasshoppers in this garden as well. The kids would jump to catch a bug and it would jump too!

All lined up in one neat row. Luckily there was no rain or snow ....
Madeline reference there. Mieka's favorite book. :)

Emma the bug slayer looking for more butterflies.

Later they played a game, Mieka opened her presents, and then they had cake and ice cream. Dave, Jan, and Traci were troopers and took the kids for a walk through the whole garden and maze.

Mieka readies for her presents. Bring them on!

GUM! Her favorite! Jen and Jan knew that Mieka LOVES gum. :)

Out goes the candles.

Pinata! I think I put too many streamers on. We ended by having all the kids grab a streamer at once and pull. It was quite the scramble to get candy! :)

By the time it was all said and done I was super glad that we were able to just walk away from the mess and go home. Yay for parties at someone else's place! A SUPER big thanks to Traci, Jennifer, Janice and Emilee for all your help!
